In the Secretary of State's Voter Information Center you have access to your sample ballot, voting place, and your local Clerk's information.
Feel free to share this resource with your fellow voters as your sample ballot may differ from another person's (items listed on the ballot are based on the issues/offices that affect your County, Township/City/Village, and the Precinct/Ward you live in.)
Each voter must vote in the polling place designated to serve the precinct in which they reside. This location is indicated on your voter identification card, on the Michigan Voter Information Center, or can be obtained by contacting your clerk.
The polls will open at 7:00 a.m. and remain open until 8:00 p.m.
Anyone still remaining in line at 8:00 p.m. is eligible to vote.
- Current Driver's License, Personal identification card issued by a State;
- Federal or State or government issued photo identification;
- -U.S. passport;
- Military identification card with photo;
- Student identification with photo, from a high school or an accredited institution of higher education
- Tribal identification card with photo;
- OR a voter may sign an affidavit form.
Only registered voters may vote.
A person must be registered prior to the election they wish to vote in.
If you are unsure of your status, call your local clerk's office. You must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, and a resident of Michigan and the city/township where you are applying to register prior to the election

NOTICE REGARDING YOUR RESIDENCE ADDRESS:
Michigan law requires that the same address be used for voter registration and driver license purposes. Therefore, if the residence address you provide on the voter registration form differs from the address shown on a driver license or personal identification card issued by the State of Michigan, the Secretary of State will automatically change your driver license or personal identification card address to match the residence address entered on the voter registration form. If an address change is made, the Secretary of State will mail you an address update sticker for your driver license or personal identification card.
*Voters passed Prop 18-3, which included No Reason Absent Voting.**
If wishing to vote absentee, please fill out the application here and return to Dalton Township Clerk's office; forms are also available in office (231-766-3043). Absent Voters MUST complete an application for each and every election before a ballot can be issued to them.
Absentee ballots MUST be returned to the Dalton Township Clerk BEFORE the close of the polls on Election Day in order to be counted.
Dalton Township's Clerk's Office will be open the Saturday before the election.
If a voter needs an Absent Voter Ballot in the event of an EMERGENCY situation ON Election Day, please call the Dalton Township Clerk at 231-766-2636.
Dalton Township maintains a Permanent Absent Voter list, registered voters can sign up to be on this list and will automatically be sent an application to request an absentee voter ballot. To be added to this permanent list, please fill complete this form.
